Summary:
Oxfordshire Youth’s Young Leaders Programme offers the opportunity to gain a formal leadership qualification while learning about how to be a better leader and team player.
In their own words:
“Oxfordshire Youth have designed a bespoke Leadership Programme for young people. The Young Leaders Programme results in a Level 2 Award in Leadership and Team Skills, and is accredited by the Institute of Leadership & Management (ILM).”
Skills gained:
-

-
Leadership
-

-
Self management
Further opportunities:
Join Oxfordshire Youth’s Voice advisory group and help to plan events and connect to young people. There are further opportunities to get training and qualifications e.g. First Aid.
What you do:
You attend the 2-day leadership residential which combines fun outdoor activities with practical hands-on learning about leadership. The programme covers time management, team dynamics and leadership styles. As you learn, you fill in a straightforward workbook that counts towards your award. You then have the chance to go away and undertake your own project to put your learning into practice.
Why do it:
Gaining a formal qualification is a great way to show employers and universities how much you know about leadership, and how much you have learnt from volunteering.
What’s more, the Award is the equivalent of an A*-C at GCSE, making it a great boost to your CV as well.
