Air Cadets offers a challenging and structured programme that develops your leadership skills and knowledge of aviation.

“Are you up for fun, adventure, incredible experiences and making new friends? Then welcome to the RAF Air Cadets. Our aims are to: promote and encourage a practical interest in aviation and the Royal Air Force, provide training, encourage the spirit of adventure and develop qualities of leadership and good citizenship.”

Apply for the Air Cadet Pilot Scheme or other flying scholarships, which could lead to you earning your Private Pilot’s Licence!

What you do: 

Air Cadets takes place across a combination of evenings, weekends and holiday camps. You will learn about flying, and even get the chance to fly yourself! In addition, there is a huge emphasis on developing leadership skills, combined with other practical activities such as parade drill, shooting and adventurous training. Most squadrons meet twice a week in the evenings with an annual camp during the summer.

Why do it:

Air Cadets is a great way to develop yourself as an individual and as a leader while having fun and meeting new people. You can also complete your DofE Award and earn BTEC qualifications worth up to four GCSEs, all as part of your normal cadet activities!
